Reedy Island Range Light Repairs
Townsend, DEAgate Construction was contracted by the United States Coast Guard following a low bid to restore the 130’ tall, cast iron Reedy Island Light House from a state of disrepair. Agate designed and implemented a bracing system to secure the cast iron skeleton structure while replacing the concrete footings, and securing a new custom piece of cast iron from Penn Mar Foundry to replace a cracked base plate for one of the tower’s critical corner legs. Agate’s subcontractor Xtreme Coating washed and painted the interior and exterior of the structure, while ensuring the navigational light was not disturbed. The project is currently on pace to finish early and without change orders, to the contentment of the Coast Guard. We are pleased to have been a part of revitalizing this Delaware landmark.
